Towson Library
The Towson Library is a focal point for Baltimore County, Maryland; a major architectural and functional centerpiece for the county seat. Housing government offices, meeting rooms and even a coffee bar it is essential that the entrance paving make a statement befitting the building and its purpose. The library had an existing painted concrete slab that wasn’t equal to the task. Library friends and staff turned to Hunt Valley Contractors.
Their question: How to meld art and concrete rehabilitation? The answer was in the client’s own commitment and in the skillful collaboration between an artist and the knowledgeable construction artisans at Hunt Valley Contractors. On a small plaza approaching the edifice Hunt Valley Contractors’ craftsmen brought to life the vision of master artist and designer Sydney Hopkins. Like a Renaissance fresco for the industrial age, the painstaking work resulted in a vivid and inspiring mural with hues and pigments crafted from the concrete coatings. Today the building and its entrance serve the people of Baltimore County with beauty and dignity.
